National Treasure Tour

National Treasure Tour

The National Treasure Tour costs $5 per person.

During the "National Treasure Tour” visitors can take an hour-long walking tour that includes behind-the-scenes information about areas where “National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets” filming took place and how these locations were used during George Washington’s time.

The National Treasure Tours are offered at the following times:
March 1 - October 31: 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m.
November 1 - December 31: 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Advanced individual tickets can be purchased online. Groups of 20 or more may reserve a separate tour in advance through the Reservations office (703-799-8688). The National Treasure Tour is limited to 20 visitors per time slot and costs $5 per person.  Estate admission is required. Visitors under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a visitor 16 years or older on this tour.

The Mount Vernon in the Civil War Tour costs $5 per person.

Explore historic locations and listen to dramatic Civil War stories – from the life-risking efforts of the estate’s earliest caretakers to battlefield cannon fire rumbling the Mansion.

The Mount Vernon in the Civil War one-hour walking tour takes place on Saturdays and Sundays at 3:30 p.m. through October 28.

The Civil War Tour is available on weekends only starting Marchl 31, 2012 running through October 28, 2012. It is offered weekends with a maximum of 30 people per tour. A portion of the available tickets are offered in advance. The remainder are sold at the ticket window the day of the tour. Tickets are required for each person on the tour. The tour is sold-out if the date desired does not allow you to add it to your shopping cart.

Please thoughtfully consider your choices. All Sales are Final and Non-Refundable. Please plan to arrive early for Daytime Tours. You will need 10-15 minutes to walk to the Bowling Green Gate. Due to the nature of Daytime Tours, late arrivals cannot be accommodated.

Children under 16 must be accompanied by an Adult 18 years or older. All attendees must have a Civil War Tour ticket.

Dinner for the Washingtons Walking Tour

Ever wonder what George Washington ate for dinner? The Dinner for the Washingtons walking tour goes behinds the scenes to find out how food was prepared and served before the era of microwaves and TV dinners.  The one-hour walking tour showcases food, hospitality, and dining at Mount Vernon by taking an in-depth look at locations around the Estate, including the basement cellar. The tour will end in Mount Vernon’s greenhouse with a special 18th-century cooking demonstration and tasting.

In honor of the centennial anniversary of the National Cherry Blossom Festival, visitors who participate in the Dinner for the Washingtons walking tour will receive a taste of cherry punch, adapted from Martha Washington’s recipe, through April 22.  This special tour costs $5 per tour in addition to Estate admission.

Please note that there is a $2 transaction fee for daytime admission or tours and a $5 transaction fee for special events. All sales are final. Please print your tickets in advance of your arrival. You will need your printed tickets to enter the Estate.

Tickets are sold on a first come- first serve basis but may be purchased at the gate on your day of arrival should you not be certain of your travel arrangements.
